M3 and National debt are both an equal amount $5.5 trillion. Our money supply is all debt.
What is particularly depressing is that we are paying interest on that debt, at a 5% minimum that amounts to about $275 billion per annum.
If the backing for the US$ is the productive capacity and resources of the US why not just print the damn thing into circulation, sans the interest.
