If you enter an order to short a stock and then cancel that order within one minute I am certain that Datek will charge you the normal fee. Brian

Can you provide a reference for this claim? I've never heard of it and can't find it on their website.

Perhaps it's to pay for the courier who is instantly dispatched to Wall Street to borrow the stock.
