Jerry, use this link to get data on the S+P and NASDAQ futures.

cme.com
updates come approx. every 15 minutes during the week.

+100 means the S+P futures are indicated up +1.00. Likewise for the NASDAQ. The data for the NASDAQ is not always current and can be misleading.

Also, depending on how the market closed, a fair value is established. Even when the S+P futures indicate +200 the openning market can decline. The opposite can also happen. It is a function of how the future closed the evening before.

A "balanced" market(my lingo) is when the NASDAQ is twice the S+P futures. Example: S+P=+300 then NASDAQ=+600.

When NASDAQ is higher than 2X the S+P the NASDAQ is showing strength. If lower than 2X the S+P then the NASDAQ is weak.

The NASDAQ data is usually good in the morning before the open. It can be very misleading in the evening as the S+P mores with market forces but the NASDAQ sometimes doesn't move or moves in large jerks for some reason.(it may be due to fewer updates)
