C'mon you can't believe DIMD can turn a nickel in the motherboard market, can you? Are the suits scratching their chins, saying OPTI had a bad business model competing with INTC and the Acer types, and we can do it right? I just don't see the logic, unless they have already dumped their options and are shorting their own company.

Doug,

What are they stealing exactly? A motherboard maker on the skids in competition with Intel.

Management strategy appears to be "we're facing competition from a larger Creative Labs, so let's go out and get in an even more hopeless battle with Intel."

They're circling the wagons instead of moving on to something better.

Jonathan

Maybe, but in a biz where execution and speed to market are crucial, acquisitions suck time, energy, focus, and sometimes morale. The key would be that Diamond really needs a concrete specific plan on how they are going to turn the acquisition into paydirt or its a mistake.

to all: hi....I was among the very few who gave out DIMD, last July, on this thread, around 7., just before its quick rise to over 12, by end of last Aug., then rec'd. out, via my "PSYCLE sm" technical/sentiment timing concept....well, I just added DIMD again here, with a close stop....while I do not expect that great/quick a rise this time around, but, on a 2-year chart, looks like may bottom ahead again.... remember, everybody hated it last 2 times it bottomed also....which is a normal part of the timing, dig ? anyway, I do not "do" fundamentals, but does DIMD still have about $ 90. MM cash, with almost no debt ? best wishes, will be in touch, just thought you'd like to know my opinion/timing here....I have done very well with issues positioned like these, over the years, with stops....
we shall see....take care,
