Beg to differ. It is the plural of datum (neuter gender). If it were datus (masculine gender), the plural would be dati.

Sorry about that, but anyone who posts on this thread is fair game -- that is, an appropriate target for the slings & arrows of crazed grammarians.

Personally, I don't have a problem with "the data show." It sounds o.k. to my ear, but if it makes you puke, it makes you puke. It takes all kinds.....
