Victor,

The investment you are bashing (gold) is an excellent example of the difference in philosophy between "value" and "momentum" investors.

Gold has been in an 18 year bear market. The stock market has been in a 16 year bull market.

Value investing is a strategy that virtually never gets you in trouble. Momentum destroys its devotees at the end of every cycle.

And usually very quickly.

What's fascinating to me is that I remember being on the exact opposite side of the argument in 1980. The "gold people" made fun of shareholders then.

So you may enjoy short term making fun of metals investors, but I suspect that before too long value will win out again, as it always does.

Always.

Dwight (Actually been a pretty good place to be since last fall)
