XYZ: re:<If there is a CPU price war as Tom Kurlak mentioned, I can assure you AMD will be the loser.>

Tell me how. With high speed SRAM, cartridge costs, and 50% larger die size, PII is twice cost of production of K6-2, which equals its performance at same clock speed. What percentage of the market do you think really wants a 400 MHz PII costing $800 right now? If its 5%, I'd be surprised.

Remember what Jerry said last quarter. AMD's business model is to be profitable selling 20M CPU's (annual rate) at $100 (by end of year). Would you care to calculate Intel's profits if they sold CPU's at an 80M annual rate and an ASP of $125?

XYZ,

First all, Tom Kurlak is a loyal Intel investor (at least until he can dispose all of his shares without inflicting too much wounds). You may be partly correct that AMD may get hurt if will be CPU price wars. However, AMD has gotten used to the low end in term of margin per unit. Before it goes under, Intel's margins will suffer and shareholder will pay dearly. This explains why so many Intellopers whom have no position (either long or short) on AMD spent so many time trashing this thread. They, including you, can't figure out there are other alternatives to be successful without stabbing someone's back.

I am sure Intel will survive. But will Intel investor stay quiet (hint: massive lawsuits)? Remember the one on Intel warrants? Are you willing to see Intel in the teens or even reverse splits? For me, I am just investing on any companies that make money for me. I have said I had invested on Intel and AMD and sold for profits. I have no loyalty to either company. You don't see me posting on Intel thread and trash it? I hope you will do the same --win by merits, not stabbing.
