FWIW, Time-Warner has just been through here (Austin, Texas) laying fiber to the curb (easement, actually); I talked to the workmen, and they told me Internet access would be coming soon. IMHO, if the RBOC's don't get moving pretty soon with ADSL, they're going to have to displace the cable companies, who aren't sitting on their hands.

JMHO, of course.
