Gee, Alex, I am sort of on my way out the door and cannot get into a discussion right now on handguns, although I would certainly like to!!! I would say that there are all sorts of countries in Europe where only the bandits and the government are armed, and there are certainly much fewer gun deaths overall!! In places like Ireland, many of the police are still unarmed, in fact. I am pretty unconvinced that basic personal freedoms really extend to the private ownership of guns. And I would think that all gun owners are brash, really.

This is the column on guns and children that I did not want to offend Judge Bleonard with, over at the Reef. (I suspect I was, um, outgunned over there as well). But I think it is well worth copying over here. This columnist pretty much shares my basic opinions:
