SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 1998--Intel
Corporation today announced that executive vice president, Frank Gill
will retire from the company effective June 1, 1998. Since 1997, Gill
has been the general manager of Intel's Small Business and Networking
Group which included the networking, reseller products, and system
management divisions; the reseller sales organization and several
start-up business operations.
Gill's most significant accomplishments were expanding Intel's
business activities in Asia and Japan while sales manager; leading
Intel's efforts in the merchant motherboard business; and most
recently driving the company's push into a full range of networking
products.
Gill joined Intel in 1975 in the Sales organization and rose to
head Intel's worldwide sales force in 1987. He was elected a senior
vice president of Intel in 1989, and went on to head the Intel
Products Group in 1990. In 1995, he became the head of the Internet
and Communications Group and was promoted to executive vice president
in 1996.
"We extend our deepest gratitude to Frank for his 23 years of
contributions and leadership to the company, and wish him well in
retirement," said Craig R. Barrett, president, Intel Corporation.
"Frank felt the strong desire to spend more quality time with his
family. He will be missed by all his friends and colleagues at Intel."
Intel's Small Business and Networking Group will be reorganized.
The Network Products Division will become a stand alone business unit
reporting to Intel's Executive Office; the Reseller Products Division
becomes part of the Intel Architecture Business Group reporting to
Paul Otellini; and the Reseller Channel Operation becomes part of the
Sales and Marketing Group reporting to Sean Maloney.

New Business Group

Intel also announced it has formed a new operational group called
the New Business Group (NBG) which will be headed by executive vice
president Dr. Gerhard H. Parker. This group will be focused on
nurturing and growing new market opportunities. The New Business Group
will combine the efforts of the company's Digital Imaging and Video
Division; Internet Services Operation; Business Communication Products
Operation; Systems Management Division, Home Networking Operations;
and Pandesic(TM) LLC, a company jointly owned by Intel and the German
software company, SAP. Also reporting to Dr. Parker in his new role
will be Intel's Content Group and the Intel Architecture Labs. The
latter two organizations are involved in creating new users for
personal computers which in turn will attract new users.
"It has become increasingly clear that we must continue to focus
on our core Intel Architecture, and diversify into new businesses if
we are to re-energize Intel's growth in the future," said Barrett. "In forming the New Business Group, we plan to nurture and grow new
business opportunities, and be organizationally flexible enough to
better serve these emerging businesses."
