Let's bring this news into the 90's.

To be initiated as an optionable stock, a stock must trade above $7.50 per share for most of the trading days over the prior 3 month period.

At least 7 million shares must be held by at least 2,000 investors who are not company insiders.

The stock must be registered (there are special rules for ADRs).

An option class can be delisted if:

Less than 6.3 million shares are held by non-insiders; or

Trading volume for the stock is under 1.8 million shares over the previous 12 months;

The stock is not in compliance with the Securities Act of 1934 to be publicly traded;

The stock has closed below $5.00 for most of the trading days in the prior six months;

There are rules which will allow some trading to continue in stocks under $5.00:

Outstanding shares have a market value of $50 million .

Customer open interest exceeds 4,000 contracts.

Stock trading volumne of 2.4 million shares over preceeding year.

Stock price close above $3.00 at least once in preceeding 6 months.

Even when delisted, all existing options continue to trade until expiration.

This is what Cesare was observing.

This information was gleaned from the most recent issue of the Value Line Weekly Option Strategist.
