i would say the difference is that NSM is operating where it can not hope to compete, whereas VLSI is strong in its markets. AMD and intel are going to pick NSM apart.

as a side note, the problems in asia are msotly related to indonesia, with just reason. as long as china remains strong and stable, the region is OK. japan on the other hand has a lot of work ahead of it. the real problem is that after more than a year of this, no one can really tell how much this is going to impact us. IMHO, we will feel it, but in other ways. the tech sector should benefit from problems in asia.
