<<compatible technology. Is that true?>> Yes, although they could go back and get a waiver. I know they have been in talks regarding this but I don't know if they have been able to come to any type of agreement.

It would seem to me that the signals, because of the different services provided would be pretty hard to come to an agreement on standardization. CD Radio plans a commercial free based service which needs heavy encryption and SKYC doesn't. Would SKYC be willing to have that decryption processing put into their radio??? How much would it raise the cost of SKYC's radio?

I think the services provided are different enough and not as rotational as a beta/vhs --- Cd Rom burning/technology that the either way it will not be important, but we can disagree when/if it becomes an issue.
