1) I've never read Ayn Rand
2) I've never been to the Microsoft Investor Relations link
3) I've never watched the X-files. Not once.

So.....what else concerns you that I might be doing?

re But who chooses whether or not Netscape can be shipped with each PC?

The OEM does.

Is there something in the OEM agreements that restricts competing software from being pre-loaded on a machine?

Possibly, I don't know. If there are, sure that's pretty aggressive. Personally, I think MSFT was dumb to do such agreements, particularly if they were made specifically to target Netscape's Communicator.

The problem is, I don't think that MSFT conceding on this issue (and voluntarily letting the OEMs out of contracts that the OEMs signed) will satisfy MSFT critics. What I see is that the most vehement critics of MSFT simply want the hugely popular Win95 to be less popular. Robert Bork is quoted in the WSJ as saying he is "alarmed" that MSFT was offering concessions. And yet, Robert Bork was quoted in IBD several days ago as saying he doesn't know what a fair solution is. But he sure knows how to bitch and whine for Netscape.

The browser issue aside, I do know that some companies offer Corel WordPerfect Suite 8 and Win95 on the same machine. I just ordered such a machine from Quantex Computer.

I'm happy. Too bad so many people out there are not happy. Life is better being happy!
