You knowk, it would behoove MSFT that Netscape not lose anymore market share. If Netscape goes out, than the DOJ will have real ammo. Not real in the context of markets, but just the fact that MSFT, by the nature of its OS, controls the market. It can't help it. It would behoove MSFT to probably tell Dell or Compaq to use Netscape, at least for a while. A little pain now will save them surgery later.

My personal feeling is that in the end, MSFT will be forced to break out the OS part of MSFT and let it go independent. Since the OS is already established, than there would still be the standardization. And now everthing is even, if thats what they want. The Apps won't know what changes are coming in new OS, the same as other AP makers.

It won't happen this round, but unless something else comes out that starts to really compete with MSFT, it will probably come to pass.

I probably should read it, so at least I know what people are talking about when mentioning Atlas Shrugged. One of those things to do...
