Nothing to be ashamed of. The most organized person I know has one of those things hanging on her pantry door. Her pantry looks much nicer than mine.

The other night about 7:00 pm the phone rang. It was a recorded message from the phone company. You have a collect call from (pause)Dashelevrtevihirti (pause). Do you accept the charges? I sat there and it repeated. I still sat there, baffled. I hate collect calls. Dan was out of town, but he has a phone card he always uses. And CW was on a date, but he was only at a Band Banquet with his girlfriend and her family right here in town. Ammo was home.
Dashelevrtevihirti? An Indian name?
"I can't understand what they're saying!" I yelled at the recorded voice, who didn't answer. So I hung up. I don't know any Indians.

At 11:45, CW wasn't home. He has an 11:00 curfew. (Yes, I know we are abysmally, cruelly, sadistically strict-he tells us all the time how his friends have no curfews.) I finally called the parents of his date, who informed me that the dance wasn't over until 12:30 and they had extended Nicole's curfew from 10:00 to 12:30. (According to CW and Nicole, her parents are the only other parents in Southlake who don't let their kids stay out and party all night long.)
What dance? The one after the banquet. Ahhh. The dance he didn't bother to tell me about.

CW comes in at 1:00. "I tried to call!" he said as soon as he walked in.

"Did you call collect???" I said, suspicion dawning.

"Yeah, I didn't have a quarter. And neither did Nicole"

"Well, I couldn't understand you! It sounded like you said Dashelevrtevihirti."

"Noooo," he said disgusted. "I said, The dance is over at 12:30 really fast to save you the money."

"Next time, just say your name slowly and let me decide if I want to speak to you, ok?" But I didn't punish him. I was just too impressed with his cheapness.
