Ghassan: there is a difference between a long term investment that does not need to be followed daily and appreciates with time, e.g. DELL, MSFT, IBM, T - these have more than doubled in the last year, and there are stocks like Borland - good only for short term trade. Buy when the share hits $7 and sell when it hits $10 or above. I have done this several times with each time I hope that management wouldn't come up with some hair brain idea to stifle share price appreciation. But as soon as the share price moves above $11 and Del has a surprise to bring the share price back to $7. I prefer shares that I can hold for 3-5 years without trading and Borland does not fall in that category.
