I agree with your points. Informix can't ignore or lessen their participation in the NT market space. Its a cop-out to reason that they don't want to compete with MSFT in the low and middle markets. Within 5 years most, if not all, major enterprise hardware vendors will be supporting NTversion X. NT is going to get improve overtime with the all hardware vendors supporting it.

MSFT is like the IBM of the late 60's, 70's and early 80's whether their products are good, bad or whatever, due to their commanding market share they become the standard. In 5 years NT will be that standard. Informix is dead if they let the competition get a 2-3 year lead on NT. They're already behind Oracle and Sybase. Oracle sells more NT database's than MSFT to the Fortune 1000.
