AMEX to list five new options on May 21-22 CHICAGO, May 15 (Reuters) - The American Stock Exchange said Friday it would list five new options on May 21 and May 22. Options on TAVA Technologies Inc. (TAVA - news) shares will be listed on May 21. TAVA options will open with strike prices of 10, 12-1/2 and 15, with position limits of 10,500 contracts. Initial expiration months will be June, July, August and November 1998. The specialist unit for the new options will be Susquehanna Investment Group.

That options are offered does not mean much. They can be very dead. A parallel stock I've mentioned here before, ABTX, has had options for some time. Despite a volatile chart, option activity has been quiet, and it's been hard to get off trades in the options at decent prices. So until the options start trading and we see the volume, don't hold your breath. However, patient investors may find some nice strategies evolve, especially once we get a 4th option offered (the $17.50). Also, those wishing to protect large profits without disturbing their positions will be able to lock in their profits and sleep well at night (for a price).
