As I understand Intel project names always identify unique chips. Thus Deshutes is Deshutes, Katmai is Katmai and Coppermine is Coppermine.

I believe that Coppermine will be functionally similar to Katmai and will execute the Katmai New Instructions. It will be implemented on the .18 micron process (Katmai is on .25 micron tech). I wonder if it will have on chip L2 cache?

I wonder what "Dixon" is? Sounds from the article to be very similar to Mendocino with perhaps additional power management features. From the time frame given, Q498, it must be done in .25 micron technology and follows close on the heels of Mendocino. I wonder if "Dixon" is a processor or a chipset? Wouldn't be the first time the press has messed this up.
