Larry ... I agree ... you have no idea just how accurate you really are. It is almost as simple as you have said. In a lot of cases it is merely changing the formula within the code adjusting the time variable. The problem I see is once the code is changed then upgrades will have to be out with a cost of course.

Now what is intereting here is sometimes they find a way (any induustry) to make their exisitng products obsolete. Thus creating new sales pitches and so forth. Talking to a lot of people I know with in the industry this Y2K chicken little scenario is not as bad as the public is being touted. I could be wrong now.

However

I used to write code in hex decimal for energy management systems, include slope.intercept equations with time derivitives, so I am familiar with how a simple code change to the calculating time variable will correct the problem. I do not think IBM and others with some of the best gurus money can buy are going to buy a y2k solution nor Bill Gates as far as that goes.

Now I know a company here in Atlanta that bought a main frame and 46 terminals and wrote the language in C-Basic. I called this friend of mine and he told me it would take about a weekend and he had the code worked out and would make the download correction probably on the next major version update.

So as you can see the small companies have the problem under control and not worried about it either.

Ok I will go quiet but this Y2K is to me a bunch of over hyped junk to possibly generate new sells of equipment and so forth.

Good info. Larry. As a newbie just barely out of the "PC Challenged" skills category, it's nice to have another perspective on the Y2K problem.
