Ram, I agree with your post, but let me clarify---3rd party
testimonials are not the be-all and end-all. They are only useful in helping to CHOOSE the right vendor/testing package from among all those clamoring for the business. And of course, it's also useful
for the INVESTOR trying to determine which horse(s) to back in a
crowded field.

Testing IS an iterative process and of course has to be validated in
the actual environment. The challenge in a critically diminishing
time frame is to find the solution providers who have earned the
reputation of minimal iterations and maximum support. And for that,
I submit, you ask the hands-on users.

I should have added CRYSF in my earlier post. I too have had
positive feedback about them.

But above all, I think the renewed emphasis on testing is the way
for investors to narrow the field in 1998-9.

Good discussion here over the weekend on testing and I agree that good testing capabilities will be essential for a company to remain a significant player in the y2k market going forward. I think that is why CEO Ravi Koka is so upbeat about SEEC's position going forward. Only weak spot now seems to be the stock price and I'm convinced that will change in a hurry as y2k stocks complete their corrective phase here. By the way, MERQ is definitely a player in the testing market. In fact SEEC's recent upgrade of their testing technology was achieved, in part, by incorporating some of MERQ's software into SEEC's software package.

Not sure about Crystal's testing capabilities but after comparing recent results and conference calls, I sold my small position of CRYSF and added to my core position of SEEC. I think Crystal will do fine but I like SEEC's management -- AND INFRASTRUCTURE -- much better than Crystal's. It is SEEC's infrastructure that will permit them to really fly when the y2k damn breaks. (e.g., 15 partners using SEEC technology in over 50 factories world-wide.)

To the extent that SEEC's last quarter was a fantastic quarter compared to the vast majority of companies, I called it a blow out. I want to change that description to "fantastic" because I believe the real blow out quarters are yet to come. I've been slow in posting re the Conference Call because I've been on the run a bit BUT stick around for some highlights coming soon to a theatre near you! Hard to believe but it was just one week ago that SEEC released 4Q and year-end earnings. Is it just me or do Wall Street activities somehow distort time parameters? In any event, there's some good stuff coming, including some new customers I just found out about.
