<The G-8 response is part of a larger picture that has exhibited some clear trends: a rejection of a unipolar world, recognition of India as an essentially stable democracy, an inherent belief spanning the political spectrum of the republican right in the US and the social democrats in Germany that an enduring model for stability and economic growth lay in democracy and capitalism. It is this latter opinion that has been making its opinion felt in the past few days, from Newt Gingrich to Schroeder to Zhirinovsky.
