"The package, which will be offered by resellers such as ComputersAmerica Inc., in San Francisco, will be available in june for about $6000, officials at the companies said.

It will include Compaq's new color C-series halndheld PC, which will be available in June for about $900, said company officals in Houston. The package will also include Iomega's forthcoming 40MB Clik drive and inFocus' 6.8-pound LP-420, which offers Super VGA resolution."

The whole package costs $6000. The Compaq alone WITHOUT the Vapor! drive or projector costs $900. Based on the article, the Vapor! drive is not included in this price. Also, it makes no comment on where exactly the Vapor! drive is to go.

It is therefore safe to assume that the Vapor! drive in this package will be the external unit. It looks like that in order to get it to work without any drivers from Windows CE, Iomega may have had to include buttons on the external Vapor! drive that tell the unit to read and write from on-board Flash storage, or from the Portable's Flash Card.

Add in the cost of the Vapor! drive, and it puts the price at $1100 if the Vapor! unit sells for $200. The projector then makes up the rest of the $6000.

COME ON IOMEGA! Let's get he presses rolling this next week, and bump that price way up there! I'm considering buying IOM in anticipation of the Vapor! hype machine that is sure to get underway real soon. Then when Vapor! is actually introduced, SELL SELL SELL!

Because Sony and the 200MB HiFi is just around the corner.

Reseller, since you're the expert, see if you can explain Apple thinking on this one.....while in a huge new COMPUSA, mid-week, I noted that most of the new top-end desk-tops had ZIP built-in. I also noted that most of the new top-end power books were sporting built-in
Super Drives. What a strange marketing ploy....."I'll take one of each." NOT!

FWIW, IOM had incredible amount of shelf space and floor space. Great selection and you could see that about half the merchandise had moved.
Super Drive had about 10 percent of the space. A wide range of competing products were available in ones and twos.
