John, I wasn't disputing the numbers. Whether the market share is 6% or 8% (and these are estimates after all) makes little difference to the argument I was making. I was simply pointing out that 40% growth over the five years could easily be accomplished.

The method I used is:

Dells current market = x
Dell's future market (DFM) = x*(1+annual growth rate)^number of years
Total future market (TFM) = current market(1+ annual growth rate)^ number of years.

Dividing DFM by TFM gives the future market share.

At the risk of this sounding like a mutual admiration society, I always look forward to reading your posts. They are invariably well thought-out and insightful.
