It was IBM that made MSFT. They scoffed at the kid in jeans demanding money for what was essentially their creation. It's still known as the IBM compatible OS!

I guarentee that if anyone tried to copy MSFT' OS, you would see more lawyers slamming them than there are stars in the sky. 50 billion dollars can buy a lot of lawyers.

As far as government regulaton of MSFT, that isn't going to happen. They don't understand this business, and they really have no desire to do so. This whole thing about the browser has been a huge waste of time and money. The issue is not does MSFT dominate the Internet access, but does MSFT dominate the entire PC industry and in doing so make it uncompetitive and non innovative. All the rest of this is just talk.

As far as us investors, we will make tons of money either way. No lose situation, that is after this Monday when the details come out.
When it gets down to that core issue, now the battle grounds become very clear. No more consent decrees( another waste of time),no regulation,no fines. It boils down to do you break up MSFT in total or partial, or do you leave it alone. There are no other options.
