Don,
I agree that MO probably has more upside than downside at the present time; I don't know if 60 is attainable, but it is probably as good a place as any to park some money right now.

I bought more on Friday at $35.375. With the exception of the fundamentals, it doesn't look good. It appears that the Senate wants to destroy the tobacco industry. I don't think there is enough support for a filibuster. Clinton and Congess are out for the Kill, Murder! It's Orwell's 1984, where the conservatives have turned ultra liberal in their tax and spend ways. I really can't believe what's happening here. According to my technical analysis, MO can fall to $28-30, which was the top of its last bull market. Bear Markets usually consolidate at the peak of the last upleg. But this is no typical Bear. I will continue to buy all the way down; but only because great companies have a way of enduring and surmounting almost anything. Here was my letter to Senator Damato:

I am outraged by your deciding vote to increase the cost of a pack of cigarettes by a $1.50 over three years. How could a Senator who calls himself a Conservative cast a vote on behalf of big government? Do you think we New Yorker's are stupid? The electorate knows that Senators like yourself are only interested in raising money for liberal big government spending programs and that YOU couldn't care less about teenagers smoking! If you really cared about teenagers not smoking you would propose super stiff legislation against retailers who sell cigarettes to minors. Why do you have to tax the adults who choose to smoke? Is it because you can't raise taxes any other way? Clearly, you have joined the liberal camp and have adopted their ideology of taking from big business to fund your social games and programs in Washington! Just remember one thing Mr. Senator: You won your last two elections by less than 1 percent. This time around you've alienated enough of your moderate conservative base to lose in November. I urge you to oppose this liberal big government excise tax on cigarettes next week. Think before you jump on a liberal suicidal bandwagon.

Don,

I went to the tobacco.org site but couldn't find Gary Black's message.

Could you post it here or provide a direct hyperlink, please?
