There are plenty of interesting NASDAQ listed stocks that trade for under $5. Since the Nasdaq enforces stricter reporting standards than BB listing (although this could change in the future) you are less likely to lose all your money in a scam. There are more scams and pump and dump schemes around than you may think.

Look at the action in ALMI and XYBR recently. Both on the NASDAQ.

Or what's wrong with buying 10 shares of CPQ if you really want to 'invest'?

It's the percentage of movement that counts, not the price of the stock when you figure profits.
