John Bird,

I'm using NT 4.x and it will grab the system and hold it when you launch programs. Sometimes it it has trouble launching a program it'll get stuck forever, and you have to hard reboot.

I'll try some other programs this week to see if you can launch a program in the background while your working in another and report back. I'll also try to reformat a floppy. I think you need to launch another program to do it. NT likely has it better here. Reformatting floppies has become a pain. Actually just using the turtles is a hassel now.

Mac OS 8.1 addresses several of those features you mentioned.

I can't agree with you on the 2 button mouse. I've never liked the concept, even on Windows. With one button, operating the OS is still intuitive and takes place in the background of the thinking processes. With two button, there are instances, e.g. contextual menus, where this might be true, but many cases of its use find one having to stop and cautiously discover which button is correct and which is a setback from the desired goal. I don't want one.
