Paul, You are wrong! The rumors of automatic elevators not working and company doors being permanently locked is hog wash. If automatic elevators stop working they will be switched to manual. If a door fails to unlock, it will be unlocked by a locksmith. The only companies that will be hurt are those that suffer major 'oh shits' with respect to their own internal systems. There will be no world economic collapse. Having been in software for the last 27 or so years I can tell you that software running more than 5 years is fully depreciated and this phenomenon (y2k) only serves to boast certain companies, like SAP and hardware (INCLUDING PC's) manufacturers. Since, as it has historically been proven, the problem is always more easily solved by throwing hardware at it, and in this case, COTS software. I'll bet come 01/01/00, 70% of all software running commercial businesses will be under 2 yrs old.
