So our govt has played "Hush-a-bye, Sweet Voters" when they normally would be defending the Dollar to the highest, vociferous heavens! Ditto, Y2K highly predictable, insurmountable challenge that will paralyze this nation and all other "computer literates" shortly! You are entirely correct in your categorical declaration: "you sense fear." Tis same fear a child displays who has done wrong and doesn't want to fess up to Mom/Dad/Teacher etc. Tis the same fear our "feckless fed" is displaying in the trenches of economic(EURO) and technological(Y2K) warfare.
