That depends Dave.

Most passionate posters, blinded by greed and hype they think the m/m have either a pact with Satan, or THEY are demons themselves.

However, Market Makers, are businessmen and like everyone else, in business they will look out for number one.

The function of a market maker, as I understand it myself is they give liquidity to the stocks they make a market on.

They do take a fair amount of risk and therefore, their risk must be compensated, they also have tools that the regular investor/trader do not have.

There are also ethical and unethical businessmen all over in all practises of life.

The best an investor/trader can do is study the arena, the company and the activity in whatever they are interested in. In other words information and research are one's best tools.

There has been new regulation as of January 1998 that has leveled the "playing field", but in addition to that there are tools that may assist you in competing in this one great Chess game, the Stock Market.

But for now, I must go..... it is the golf thing.
