Marc: Flanagan's show is the perfect accompaniment to a springtime
nap under the swaying fronds of an old black willow tree. However,
I did awaken from my hammock-rocked slumbers yesterday long
enough to hear Flanagan's discourse on the "year 2000 problem";
he is not nearly as unconcerned as Brinker lets on with respect
to this glitch. Indeed, Flanagan rang the alarum bells quite loudly
and flatly stated that Y2K could prove to be a veritable nightmare,
especially, for the banking system. This in response to a caller
who is holding off investment of his $400,000 nest egg for fear of
getting stung mightily by the Y2K bug. Is Brinker's apparent indif-
ference to this problem justified? With lavish apologies to Edgar
Allan Poe, "Will the bug beat the bull, all hallow?"
