Keith, my last calculation showed that they maintained around seven days of inventory, but remember that this includes raw materials and thus overstates the process time.

Marketing VP bet a Fortune reporter that the reporter couldn't get a Dell computer in a week. VP said it was all BS. Reporter ordered one and got it in 5 or 6 days (he didn't indicate he was a reporter). Result: Another sale for Dell; HP gets egg on its face in next issue of Fortune.
