Are buy-to-cover transactions labeled? That is, the same way short sale transactions have a special tag.

Steve/Anyone,

Size: Does the size displayed as part of a quote shows all bids at the first level, or just the size of the inside offer? Would it be different depending if we are talking about Naz or listed.

The reason I ask is I got an immediate fill on a 4000 limit order to buy where the ask size showed as 10 and I noticed that it stayed at 10 even though 12000 sh, including my 4000, traded at the ask. None at the bid. A Nasdaq company.

I am wondering if there may have been 12 mms offering 1000 sh at the first level or if there was only a single offer which kept refreshing (right term?) with every trade. Possible so as not to show the true size that the mm had to unload.

TIA

Richard James
