Let me add my vote here. There are obviously some really bright and shrewd investors on this thread. I'd like to hear more analysis and less opinion too. Yet even though I, too, may be quilty of the opinion thing.

I disagree with you jim. As a trader who also shorts stock quite often, none recently, the percentage of bears do their homework. It takes more courage to short in a bull market than to go long! The major difference is the ability to lose a much larger amount than you you may be able to handle!

DELL was an ideal psychological short just at $100. To most traders, that is an obvious barrier. Any short within a dollar or two of 100 was a low risk short given as well, the recent rise from the low 60's.

The real mistake is going long @100. With the recent move, the short term risk is greater than the reward IMHO. As a percentage, there are other issues out there that traders will seek out other than DELL now.
