We agree! Someone heard me complaining on another thread with a similar post a while ago and asked me what I would do if I were president and had a compliant congress. Wow! Here's what I dashed off then:

Here's the solution: pay members of Congress 10 times what they receive now -- but only allow them to meet for 30 days each year unless there is a national emergency which would be defined very strictly. Plus all new laws would automatically expire after 36 months unless voluntarily renewed.
