An experience on AMZN froma poster on the yahoo message boards:

I was visiting AMZN today, and Frank Sinatra books were being featured, which is very appropriate. The one featured on the home page was selling at 40% off.

But when I clicked to see the other Sinatra books, the first one on the list, "All or Nothing at All: A Life of Frank Sinatra" (ISBN: 0880641819) was selling at list price, $25.95.

Being curious about this title, I went to All Direct Books (http://alldirect.com), one of the stores featured in ACSES, and found the same book (ISBN: 0880641819) selling for $16.87!

Barnes and Noble (http://barnesandnoble.com) had this book for $18.16.

Is this a pricing error or part of an AMZN pricing policy, selling some selected titles at list price? (The other titles in the list on the page were selling at discounts.)

Selling some titles at list will help the margins, but only if shoppers don't mind paying more. Or aren't aware that they are paying $9.00 extra for a Sinatra book!

There are building healthy, win-win relationships
with customers and strategic partners. Building brand name.

Brand name? There is no brand loyalty in retail. They sell a commodity.

Also, with a 20% gross profit, there is no way they could be profitable.
