Hmmmm... I voted for the standoff too. They could have their very own expensive cold war. In any case, I say CNN should have a more interesting survey asking if we should let the robots vote.

I have a serious question:

If Japanese banks have such low interest rates, why can't I (an American living in Upstate NY) take out a low-interest rate mortgage from one of these Japanese banks? In more general terms, why can't arbitrage take care of differing risk-adjusted interest rates, and drive them down lower or higher until we all reach equilibrium?

Thanks!

Your 'honesty' get an 'A+'!

X you do make a point in that it is true that the U.S need the Asians more than the Europeans in some fashion, especially if 'you' do want that inflation thing in check. If this was't not so then 'you' could have been paying $200.00 for your 'Dockers',$500.00 for the 'Nike' and the like and soon 'you' won't have any money left to pay for the mortgage of 'your' 4 bed room house with the yard ,in other words 'your' good job might not have taken you very far in all probability.

Before I go allow me to correct one thing and that is India do not send 'you' too many 'cheap' goods to consume as the Chinese,or the erstwhile 'Tigers',India on the other hand sends 'you' some of her 'brains' like engineers, doctors, software engineers,College Professors,Scientists,Financial Analysts,Entrepreneurs etc, etc.[about 1 million of them] and they don't come all that cheap as far I know.

In India and China ignorance can be attained without wasting years in school.
