Hi Pat, Overseas [Asia] corporate business is no doubt suffering. South Korea, is trying to get back on track. What we really need to watch for is Japan, and Hong kong to do well. If either Japan or Hong Kong tanks, then the problem just multiplies. If China devalues, which I don't think they will, then there will be another round of Asian Flu, and this time Europe and North America will get hit hard, so I hope they don't do it. However, If china devalues then Dell will just be able to get cheaper components, and it would benefit Dell by getting cheaper components. Again, the downside would come to us share holders in the form of a Global glut with Chinese devaluation. It's in our best interest and the worlds interest for China not to devalue their currency. The under 1000 pc is here to stay but that is not to say that demand for the upscale models will diminish, quite to the contrary, as DVD becomes more popular, and voice over internet becomes more popular, and Multi-media becomes more popular, we will start seeing a shift towards higher prices, think about it this way, remember the good old cassette player, got cheaper by the day till you got CD's right? There is just too much advancement going on in the computer/Internet industry and I see ADSL coming. AWARE technologies, a company out of Massachussets has already mentioned that Compaq computer will start making computers in December that are capable of handling ADSL, without requiring a technician to come to the terminal to install this technology. Amazing, huh? Then lets not forget Merced, Intels chip that is to be released in the next few months or so, that will not be in under 1,000 category, so DELL will enjoy the sales with healthy margins. I honestly believe there is room for both: under 1,000$ computers and the top of the line stuff. Consumers have plenty of money, and will buy the "best" if and when they can afford it. <GL2U>
