But industry to get a much needed boost
this week, as Dell is scheduled to report earnings on Tuesday... Street looking for gain of
$0.42, though we would be surprised if DELL didn'thandily beat the consensus... Big
question is whether good news from Dell will pick up the entire group, or will investors
reward DELL while punishing the laggards such as IBM, Compaq and
Hewlett-Packard... Lean toward the latter though wouldn't be surprised by the former...
Renewed inventory concerns in the PC group cut the heart out of the recovery rally in the
disk drive industry... Stocks backpedalling once again... Weakness should be relatively
limited, as much of the bad news is factored into the stocks already... But concerns put
meaningful recovery on hold once again... Industry posted fractional losses on Friday.
