Jeff - Re: " I'm getting a kick out of watching the careful encirclement of AMD product."

Your analysis, and the use of the term "encirclement", is a very good summary of AMD's dilemma. Thanks for summing it all up.

What I am still amazed about is the near-total LACK of AMD - pre-launch hype!

Prior to a new chip or a new customer announcement, AMD "leaks" the scoop to Ashok Kumar, the C|NET crowd, Tom Uberclockermeister, etc. and the world is abuzz about the amazing new "Intel Killer".

Now, we are only 10 days away from the K6-ME2 launch and I haven't seen hint of a leak!

Same goes with improving yields down in the MegaFLOP 25 - awfully quiet down 'thar' in Texas!

Jeff and Intel Investors - For a Good Review of a God $80 i740 2D/3D Graphics card, check out Anand's WeB Site.

anandtech.com

This is a review of the Shuttle HOT-158 AGP i740 board which sells for $80 according to Anand and has pretty good (although not stellar) performance.

However, like our AMD buddies love to say - "It is the Best Price/Performance Product".

Check it out!

The fact that the board sells for only $80 seems to be sending a signal to the Graphics Chip/Board market. Intel wants "IN" in a big way!

IF you cannot get developers to produce the products to go along with your product you die. This is why INTC and MSFT have been so successful...they have befriended the developers and had them embrace all their products.

Feff,
RE:"The K6-2 will have to sell for 25% less than the Mendocino."
Is this written in stone somewhere?
