Another article a week or so old with some positive comments on the HDD industry by Seagate:

scmp.com

"Mr Stead [Senior VP] said the end of Seagate's financial troubles was coming soon, as the industry was beginning to see supply shortages in some sectors. 'We are starting to see very significant increases in demand', he said."

Justa,

I agree with J. Ng that things may pick up later this year for the disk makers. I do consult for KOMAG at times and they have not slowed down their upgrading nor the R & D. They are spending money!! KOMAG produces the HD disk that Seagate uses. They are located in Santa Rosa Calif, Silicon Valley (Milpitas), and Malaysia.
So far at this time, I must state that they have not had an upswing in production.

Yet.

I'll make it a point to call some people and see what they say.

Steve.
