Darrell, Bill already offered to put the "first screen" up for bid. That's the screen with the Windows Logo. The problem is, the DOJ wouldn't let MSFT be a bidder (I guess the money would go to the PC mfr). That was more than generous of MSFT to put the first screen up for bid. The DOJ would have rejected any and all offers by MSFT, because they're out for big $$$ in penalties.

I say Bill is doing the right thing. Take it to the mat. Let's fight it out. Meanwhile, Win98 will be permeating all the ends of the earth.

Bill should simply settle on whatever with whatever it takes. he
built microsoft from nothing in a fierce environment; to think he
can't do it again by accommodating netscape and a few other
"silly" agreements, is wrong. pride is getting in the way here. the
doj wants to take this ship apart. without meaningful agreements
from Bill, where Bill starts from the same starting point (again) as
others, the doj will work their nasty will until they feel they've
won. >>

Buddy, I think you get it wrong, it is not about 'money'
anymore, it is about 'power'.
