KJ,

More on Compaq's [plus others] clustering plans.

techweb.com

<<Compaq acquired well-respected clustering technology when it bought Tandem last year, and the companies are moving that proprietary technology to NT/Intel servers. Later in the second quarter, Compaq plans to sell a six-node cluster of ProLiant 6500 servers running MCS and Oracle Parallel Server. Compaq also has demonstrated four-node MCS clusters, and multinode clusters of DB2 on Compaq servers. Compaq supports Ethernet and ServerNet to connect servers together-an architecture it calls "Server Area Networks," or SANs-and Fibre Channel or SCSI to connect servers to storage devices.>>
