LS,

Another reason AMAT is so attractive in this pricey environment is its low Relative Strength. At some point, weak RS becomes value. AMAT has not participated in the rally of the past several months and leaves me scratching my head as to why anyone would short it. If you are going to short a stock in this sector, why the gorilla, a gorilla with the ability to be profitable at nearly any revenue run rate?

Why not target for shorting those companies with the highest relative strength, ones which have been rallying well ahead of their fundamental picture. With AMAT I see no exhuberance, rational or irrational<GGG>

Brian, > AMAT is not at all over-valued relative to so many other candidates if you you are so inclined to puts or shorting. I mean, even within this sector AMAT is the last company i'd bet against.<

I concur. Just look at the NASDAQ. It is down 15.70 but AMAT is up 5/8 at 57 5/8 (15 min. delay). It looks to me as individuals/funds, etc. are buying consequently we are not seeing it drop. I was expecting to see AMAT to drop with MSFT after its EPS report last Tuesday. It is again holding above its support line. IMO, Tito may be correct when he stated that the 4th attempt of AMAT to break the triple top is its normal pattern. If so, we will soon see $40 and higher as Tito's upward march occurs.
