Ignoring the point about 'greasing' enough points (which is ludicrious within itself)... the whole reason MS is in trouble is that they bundle several products together as a single package and drives a competing company out of business. This is the reason we will see an anti-trust battle over Microsoft's business practices....

A good example of what I mean is the business of Microsoft giving away SQL*Server with their NT package. How can the likes of Oracle IBM (DB2), Informix and Sybase compete with a product that is free if you buy the O/S? For argument sake, Sybase and SQL*Server where once the same package - if both were developed the same then they should be sold roughly the same, correct? We are now seeing the same battle over Internet browsers; and if the goverment doesn't act soon Microsoft will eliminate all competition and we will all be forced to use Microsoft products.

I know that this is the Fidelity Mutual (sector) Fund thread and will not argue any more about corrupt goverment officials.... the whole Us (as in you and me) vs. Microsoft has been growing by the inclusion of several large US firms most notably Sun, Netscape, Oracle and even IBM - all have asked the Justice department to investigate Microsoft's anti-trust activities... believe it or not, what the Justice department is doing will benefit us all in the long run.
