Netscape wins license deal with Citibank

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 19 (Reuters) - Netscape
Communication Corp. on Tuesday said it has won a worldwide
license agreement from Citibank under which Citibank plans to
build an electronic commerce network using Netscape software.
Citibank, the banking and financial service subsidiary of
Citicorp , has over 93,000 employees in over 100
countries around the world.
Internet-based software maker Netscape will license its
CommerceXpert line of products and its server software line of
products, including Netscape Application Server and Netscape
Directory Server, to Citibank.
"Citibank is leveraging Netscape software for its
electronic commerce applications around the world," said Jim
Barksdale, Netscape chief executive officer.
Shares of Netscape were up 1-5/16 at 28-9/16 by midday,
while Citicorp shares rose 2-11/16 to 156-3/16.
