I posted the reference to Bill's thread as it offers an interesting point of view on the issue. As I have stated many many times I believe some companies will benefit from the problem. But the real issue is that this unique opportunity has attracted a lot of unscrupulous promoters hyping stocks, riding the wave, moving stocks to unrealistic valuations and taking advantage of small investors.

I have seen it happened too many times. GPW has had no growth in the last 22 years and has never made money. Now they will save the world and it is worth $40 million? Give me a break.

once you decide if the whole Y2 situation is a hoax then consider this GPW analogy :

if I bought all the supply of canned tuna in the world at $.25 per can and took it all off the market then artificially squeezed-up the new price per can to $6.00, would you buy it?

Licky

PS-I still bet that the current short position is largely artificial
