jbe,

Right. But in combination, different meanings can occur. For example, "HOT,HUG and CUM". <g>

Definitely. My thinking is that companies with enough imagination and creativity to create a ticker symbol that means something, must, IMO, have an edge on their competitors. To arbitrarily select an "easily forgettable acronym", [to use your words], I agree - simply makes no sense if there is a more memorable alternative.

FWIW, I'm tracking the stocks with ticker symbols that "make sense" to me, so to speak, to see how they do.

Incidently, quite by accident the other day, I punched in the ticker "VRC" instead of "VCR" [as in a recorder] and came up with Varco, an oil service stock. After looking at Varco's chart and some other information, I bought Varco at 28 - even though the ticker didn't make any sense. It is at 27 right now, but I think it will go up - based upon my technical indicators.

Have a good day,

Ice
